Managed Backup Services
The backups run every day and are verified by us. They do not depend on someone remembering.
Regular Restoration Tests
A backup that has never been restored is not a backup. We test the restore and document the result.
Disaster Recovery

Managed Backups
Recovery time is what countsAs If They Were Ours.
Data loss rarely has an exotic cause: a failing drive, a file encrypted by ransomware, a corrupted database, someone deleting the wrong folder. What sets businesses apart is not avoiding the incident — it's how long they take to get back to work afterwards.
What is at stake is the recovery time
In Portugal, ransomware attacks have grown exponentially in recent years, and SMEs are increasingly the primary target of cybercriminals — precisely because, in most cases, they lack adequate protection.
But cyber attacks are only one of the threats. Hardware failures, user errors, database corruption, physical accidents on the premises or natural disasters are equally common causes of data loss. And when that happens without a robust backup plan, the consequences are devastating:
- Total or partial stoppage of operations, for hours, days or weeks
- Irreversible loss of critical information of customers, suppliers and partners
- GDPR breach, with the potential for significant fines
- Reputational damage difficult to recover in the market
- Disaster recovery costs often several times higher than the cost of a managed backup contract for multiple months
The question is not if It is going to happen. The question is when — and whether you are prepared to answer.
What does managed backup include
DataRoad offers a complete Managed Backup service designed specifically for businesses that cannot afford to lose data or have their internal team manage the complexity of a robust protection solution.
We assume full responsibility for your backup strategy: from initial configuration to daily monitoring, from recovery testing to incident support. Your focus is the business. Ours is protecting it.
At DataRoad, our mission is to ensure that never happens to you. We don't sell backup software.
What is included in the service
A managed backup contract, not a software licence. We configure, monitor, test and respond — and what is promised is in writing.
Automatic copies
Tailor-made frequency for your organisation, without relying on anyone remembering.
3-2-1 rule
Three copies of the data, on two different storage media, with one off-site.
Redundant storage
Replication across more than one geographical location, in case the building is lost.
End-to-end encryption
Data encrypted in transit and at rest — only your organisation can read them.
24/7 surveillance
Jobs are monitored in real time; a failed backup generates an alert on the same day.
Resits
An untested backup is a false sense of security. We restore periodically to confirm.
RTO and RPO in the contract
How long until operational and how much data you can lose — obligations, not promises.
Microsoft 365 and the cloud
Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams and OneDrive: Microsoft hosts, the backup is yours.

Solutions tailored to your sector
What is critical changes with the business. Hospitality — reservations, PMS and invoicing, where downtime is measured in lost check-ins. Health and clinics — clinical data, subject to legal retention and confidentiality requirements. Education — e-learning platforms and student data. Multi-site groups — coherent policies across delegations and countries. Public sector — strict compliance with legal filing requirements.

The question that decides everything
When was the last time someone restored a file from your backups, from start to finish, and confirmed that the result was correct?
If the answer isn't immediate, in practice there is no backup — there's a process that runs every night and nobody knows if it works. It's the first thing we check, and the one we most often find failing.
Why DataRoad and not another company
In-house team, here. Headquarters in Alfragide and a presence in the North. The person who answers the phone is the person who manages your backup — not a call centre.
Full responsibility. We don't install the software and disappear: we manage, monitor, test and respond. If something goes wrong, the problem is ours.
No surprises. What is included, the SLAs, response times, testing and reporting are all in the contract.
Questions you should ask today
Do you know when the last backup of your data was made? Has anyone tested if this backup is recoverable? Are your Microsoft 365 data protected? Do you know how long it would take to recover everything in the event of a disaster? Does it comply with Decree-Law No. 28/2019 with off-site backups?
If any answer was «I don't know», it's time to take action.
Frequently Asked Questions
Doesn't Microsoft 365 back up our data anymore?
It doesn't. Microsoft guarantees service availability, not the recovery of your data in the event of deletion, human error or ransomware beyond the short retention periods. It is one of the most expensive misconceptions we encounter.
How long does it take to recover everything?
It depends on the volume and what was agreed — that is precisely what the RTO defines. Without that number in writing, nobody can promise anything seriously.
Is it enough to have a copy on an external drive?
No. A disk connected to the same server is caught by the same ransomware, the same fire, and the same theft. That is why the rule requires an off-site copy.
How often do you test the restoration?
Periodically and by sampling, with the result recorded. A restoration test that is not documented has the same value as not having been done at all.
A chat before making a decision
Whether you’re tackling a specific problem, planning a move or simply looking for a second opinion, we always start in the same way: by understanding your situation before making any suggestions. No obligation, no jargon and no catalogues.
Most companies only find out they don't have backups on the day they need them.We implement automated, encrypted and off-site backups — and periodically test the restore process, so that it works even when needed.Request a restore test for your backups
