BePoet Baixa Hotel relies on DataRoad for the complete implementation of the IT infrastructure for its new hotel in Lisbon

DataRoad Strengthens Its Presence in the Hospitality Industry with a Comprehensive IT Solution: Professional Wi-Fi, IP CCTV, Access Control, and 24/7 “Unlimited” Support

DataRoad was selected to carry out an integrated technology project for a client in the hospitality industry, involving the installation of a wireless network (corporate Wi-Fi), the implementation of IP CCTV (video surveillance), access control, and the ongoing management of the entire IT infrastructure through the “Unlimited” service, with permanent on-site, remote, and telephone support, supplemented by monitoring and alarm systems.

This type of implementation is critical in hotels and lodging facilities, where the guest experience depends directly on a stable Wi-Fi network, reliable security systems, and uninterrupted daily operations—from check-in and billing to guest connectivity in rooms, common areas, and outdoor spaces. DataRoad steps in as a technology partner to ensure availability, performance, security, and continuity.

Technology for Hotels: Infrastructure That Enhances the Guest Experience and Operational Efficiency

The hospitality industry requires a specific approach to technology: high user turnover, multiple coverage areas, usage peaks, the need for network segmentation (guests vs. internal services), and mandatory security and control. For this reason, DataRoad designs and implements solutions tailored to the industry, combining:

  • Corporate Wi-Fi with remote management and monitoring
  • IP Video Surveillance with Centralized Recording and Management
  • Access Control to Enhance Security and Auditing
  • Managed IT services with continuous and proactive support

The result is an infrastructure that is ready to scale, reduce incidents, and ensure that technology serves as a business enabler—not a source of failures.

Scope of the project: IT installation and configuration services

As part of this project, DataRoad’s specialized teams will install and configure a set of components essential to the hotel’s day-to-day operations, including:

1) Supply of computer equipment (HP workstations)

DataRoad provides professional HP workstations tailored to the hotel's operational environment (reception, back office, management, administrative areas), ensuring reliability, performance, and integration with the existing infrastructure.

2) Installation and configuration of the computer network (switches, router, and cabling)

The foundation of any modern hotel is a robust network infrastructure. In this project, DataRoad is responsible for:

  • Installation and Configuration of Switches and Routers
  • Computer Cabling Installation and Organization
  • Preparation for scalability and redundancy, where applicable
  • Best Practices for Network Segmentation and Security

3) Installation and configuration of IP CCTV (video surveillance)

Video surveillance is a key component of security. DataRoad implements an IP CCTV system that includes:

  • Strategically positioned IP cameras
  • Network and Storage Configuration (as required)
  • Controlled access and centralized system management
  • Integration with internal security and operational policies

Note: In hospitality settings, the installation of CCTV must comply with best practices and applicable legal requirements, including proper signage and internal policies regarding access to footage.

4) Wireless network (corporate Wi-Fi) with access points in indoor and outdoor areas

For hotels, Wi-Fi is one of the factors most valued by guests. DataRoad installs and configures a professional wireless network, including:

  • Access points located throughout all indoor and outdoor areas
  • Coverage Optimization for Guest Rooms, the Front Desk, Restaurants, Meeting Rooms, and Common Areas
  • Access portal (if applicable) and policy configuration
  • Remote management and monitoring for rapid incident response and proactive adjustments

5) Installation of the sound system

Implementation and configuration of the sound system, with a focus on operational stability and suitability for the hotel’s various areas (common areas, reception, dining areas, and event spaces, where applicable).

6) Cloud Server for Remote Desktop

DataRoad offers a Cloud Server for Remote Desktop, allowing you to:

  • Secure and controlled access to applications and work environments
  • Business Continuity and Mobility for Management Teams
  • Simplified maintenance and resource scalability

7) Wi-Fi solution controller with remote management and monitoring

To ensure consistency and performance, a Wi-Fi controller is implemented, enabling:

  • Centralized management of access points
  • Network policies (e.g., guest/service segmentation)
  • Monitoring of availability, load, and quality of service
  • Remote adjustments with no impact on operations

8) “Unlimited” IT maintenance with monitoring and alerts

In addition to installation, customers will have access to the “Unlimited” service, which includes:

  • On-site, remote, and telephone IT support
  • Continuous monitoring of critical services and equipment
  • Alarm system for early detection of faults and degradation
  • Proactive monitoring to reduce downtime and disruptions

Because these services are crucial for hotels and lodging facilities

Unlike many other industries, in the hospitality sector, technology is directly linked to reputation: unstable Wi-Fi, connectivity issues, CCTV problems, or unavailability of workstations have an immediate impact on operations and guest satisfaction.

With an integrated approach, DataRoad helps hotels to:

  • Improve Wi-Fi quality and reduce complaints
  • Strengthen physical security and operational control
  • Reduce downtime and incidents through proactive monitoring
  • Gain predictability with a continuous support model
  • Having a specialized partner to help evolve your infrastructure as your business grows

Backup and Disaster Recovery: What an SME Needs to Know

Many small and medium-sized businesses only discover that their backup isn’t working at the worst possible moment: when they actually need it. The difference between a few hours of downtime and permanent data loss almost always lies in how the backup and disaster recovery strategy was planned—not just executed. Backup is not the same as disaster recovery. A backup is a copy of the data. A

In-House IT Department vs. Outsourcing: A Comparison of Costs and Benefits

When an SME reaches a certain volume of IT support requests, the same question always arises: Is it worth hiring an in-house IT technician, or does it make more sense to keep—or start using—an external vendor on a retainer basis? There is no one-size-fits-all answer, but there are objective criteria that can help you decide. The actual cost of an in-house technician Salary is only part of the picture

Signs That Your Company Needs to Switch IT Providers

Switching IT vendors is a decision that many companies put off—out of fear of the transition, out of inertia, or simply because “that’s just how it’s been for years.” But there are clear signs that a provider is no longer meeting the company’s needs, and recognizing them early prevents support issues from turning into business problems. 1. Cybersecurity Checklist for SMEs in Portugal

Most cyberattacks on Portuguese SMEs do not target large corporations—they target smaller companies, precisely because, on average, they have fewer defenses in place. This checklist outlines the essential protections that any SME should have in place, regardless of its industry. 1. Dedicated firewall and network segmentation A properly configured firewall is the first line of defense between a company’s internal network and the outside world. In companies

What Is an MSP and Why Are Portuguese Companies Choosing to Outsource IT?

More and more Portuguese companies—especially SMEs with between 10 and 200 employees—are replacing the traditional model of “calling a technician when something breaks” with a contract with an MSP (Managed Service Provider). But what exactly is an MSP, and why is this model growing so rapidly in Portugal? What Is an MSP? An MSP is a specialized company that takes on,

How Much Does IT Support Cost for a Company in Portugal?

One of the first questions any manager asks before hiring IT support is simple: how much will it cost?
